Background

The National Lacrosse League is a professional box (indoor) lacrosse promotion. The league originally began play in 1987 as the Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League and then was known as the Major Indoor Lacrosse League from 1988 through 1997. The National Lacrosse League considers all franchise and players records from these two leagues from 1987 through 1997 to be part of its official history.
