History
The National Hockey League was established in 1917 with four teams all based in Eastern Canada: The Montreal Canadiens, Montreal Wanderers, Ottawa Senators, and Toronto Arenas. Only the Canadiens and Arenas (now the Maple Leafs) are still in existence.
