The Kentucky Colonels were the 11th and final team to join the ABA in 1967. They, along the Indiana Pacers, were the only team to play in the same city with the same name for all nine ABA seasons.

The Baltimore Stallions played two seasons in the CFL starting in 1994. The most successful of the league’s American teams, they went to the Grey Cup following both seasons, winning in 1995. The team experienced grief off the field from the NFL, first with a lawsuit over using the name Colts, then by the relocation of the Cleveland Browns.
The Oakland Invaders were founding members of the USFL in 1983. They were originally going to be called the Bay Area Invaders in attempt to appeal to the entire region but settled on Oakland Invaders in order to take advantage of the departure of the NFL Raiders.
The Dayton Triangles were founding members of the American Professional Football Association in 1920. IN 1922, the circuit became known as the National Football League. In 1929 the team was sold and moved to Brooklyn where they became the Dodgers.
The New Jersey Generals were one of the original USFL franchises. Originally owned by J. Walter Duncan, the Oklahoma oilman sold the team in 1983 after one season. The Generals new owner, real estate developer Donald Trump, built the team into a winner, while simultaneously sowing the seeds of the league’s destruction.
