The Rochester Skeeters were a Minnesota-based minor league hoops outfit that played two International Basketball Association (IBA) seasons at the Mayo Civic Center between 1998 and 2000. The IBA was a low-budget league that operated primarily in the Upper Midwest and Western Canada. The Skeeters left town after two seasons, moving to Salina, Kansas during the summer of 2000.
The Salt City Aces were a Syracuse-based semi-pro football team active from 1976 through 1981. The club primarily played at Griffin Field. The Aces were not a strong entry, posting four straight losing campaigns as a member of the Empire Football League between 1978 and 1981, including a winless 0-10 season in 1978.
The New Jersey Rams were one of the nation’s top semi-pro football outfits during the early 1980’s. The team bounced around between various stadia in Bergen and Essex counties between 1977 and 1984, always under the direction of Ed O’Reilly. The Rams rarely lost during the 1980’s and spent much of their final campaign in 1984 atop the Minor Professional Football Association’s national rankings of semi-pro clubs.
The Sacramento Buffalos were a minor-league football team that competed in the California Football League from 1977 until 1981. They were known as the River City Buffalos in 1977 and also traced their roots back through two earlier semi-pro teams in the state capitol, the Sacramento Statesmen (1973) and the Condors (1974-1976).
