Charlotte Sting
The Sting were Charlotte’s Women’s National Basketball Association club for ten seasons between 1997 and 2006. In their best campaign, the Hornets overcame a slow start to reach the 2001 WNBA Finals, where they lost to the Los Angeles Sparks. The Sting were traditionally lagged in the WNBA attendance charts in relation to other clubs and the team fared poorly on the court in its final seasons as well. The Sting went out of business in January 2007.
