The Columbus Chill played in the East Coast Hockey League from 1991 to 1999. They’re success paved the way for Columbus to be awarded an an NHL team, though the Chill are still fondly remembered by the city’s hockey fans.

The Columbus Landsharks were a toothless entry in the indoor National Lacrosse League, playing three seasons of box lacrosse at Nationwide Arena from 2000 to 2003. The original Landsharks franchise actually left town for Montreal shortly after its debut season, but new owners resuscitated the ‘Sharks for two more desultory seasons. The team packed off once more, this time bound for Arizona, in 2003.
