Shreveport Captains (1971-2000)
The Shreveport Captains held a membership in Minor League Baseball’s Texas League for thirty seasons between 1971 and 2000. For most of that time, from 1979 onward, the team served as a farm team for the San Francisco Giants. The Captains were a Texas League dynasty during the 1990’s, advancing to the playoff championship series five times and winning three league titles. New owners changed the team’s name to the Shreveport Swamp Dragons in 2001 and the franchise moved away to Frisco, Texas a year later following the 2002 season.
