Winnipeg Cyclone
The Winnipeg Cyclone were a minor league basketball squad that played in the International Basketball Association between 1995 and 2001. The Cyclone replaced the similarly named Winnipeg Thunder on the local basketball scene. While the more ambitious Thunder played at 12,000 seat Winnipeg Arena, the lower-budget Cyclone used the Winnipeg Convention Centre whose 2,600-odd seats were still more than the Cyclone required. Notable Cyclones included former NBA dunk maestro Darryl Dawkins, who coached the team, and former Hoop Dreams subject Arthur Agee.
