Fredericton Canadiens
The Fredericton Canadiens were the New Brunswick-based top farm club of the Montreal Canadiens throughout the 1990’s. The Baby Habs appeared in the American Hockey League’s Calder Cup Finals in 1995, losing in a four-game sweep to the Albany River Rats. By the end of the 1990’s, the AHL was retreating from Atlantic Canada and Fredericton’s small Aitken Centre arena was out of step with newer AHL venues. The franchise moved to Quebec City in 1999.
