Orange County Ramblers

The Orange County Ramblers were a superb minor league football team that enjoyed a brief two-year existence in the late 1960’s. Under Head Coach Homer Beatty, the Ramblers assembled a 21-3 record over two regular seasons in the Continental Football League. The CoFL (1965-1969) existed one rung beneath the NFL and AFL and lived up to its ambitious name, with franchises stretched across the United States and Canada. Only one minor league squad in North American could lick the Ramblers – the Orlando Panthers, who defeated the Californians in the Continental League championship game in both 1967 and 1968.

Victoria Steelers

The Victoria Steelers were a British Columbia-based minor league football team active during the late 1960’s.  The club started out as a semi-pro outfit in the Pacific Football League in 1966.  At the end of 1966, the Continental Football League launched a West Coast expansion and the Steelers stepped up to fully professional status in 1967. The club relocated to Spokane, Washington prior to the 1968 season.

The Spokane Shockers were a short-lived minor league professional football team of the late 1960’s, hailing from Washington State. The Shockers claim to fame was (briefly) featuring future Pro Football Hall-of-Fame quarterback Ken “Snake” Stabler on the team during the autumn of 1968.

1967 Eugene Bombers program from the Continental Football Leaguea

Eugene Bombers

The Eugene Bombers were a short-lived football entry in the Oregon city of Eugene in the late 1960’s.  The club originated in the semi-pro Pacific Football League in autumn of 1966.  The team played well, posting a 7-2 record. Although the club elected to forfeit its playoff appearance for financial reasons, the Bombers were invited to move up the pro football ladder in March 1967 with the formation of the Pacific Division of the previously East Coast-based Continental Football League.
