The Tallahassee Thunder were a short-lived Arena Football team that played at the Leon County Civic Center from 2000 through 2002. The team played in Arena Football 2, which was a small market developmental circuit for the larger Arena Football League at the time.
The Macon Knights were a minor league Arena Football franchise based in Middle Georgia during the early 2000’s. Coached by former NFL corner Kevin Porter, the Knights reached the Arena Cup IV championship game of Arena Football 2 at the conclusion of the 2003 season.
The Quad City Steamwheelers, head quartered in Davenport, Iowa, were one of fifteen original franchises that began play in Arena Football 2 during the spring of 2000. The Steamwheelers dominated the league during its first two seasons, posting a 37-1 record and winning two Arena Cup championship games before raucous home crowds at the Mark of the Quad Cities.
The Mahoning Valley Thunder were a Youngstown, Ohio-based indoor football team that competed in Arena Football 2 (AF2) for that league’s final three seasons from 2007 until 2009. The team never found its competitive footing, posting three losing seasons and an overall record of 12-36.
The Richmond Speed were an indoor football team that competed in Arena Football 2, a developmental league for small-to-mid sized cities, from 2000 to 2003. The Speed were one of the league’s top teams in AF2’s early years, appearing in the Arena Cup title game in 2001.
