The Blades’ arch rivals, both geographically and competitively, were the Anaheim Bullfrogs. Anaheim eliminated Los Angeles in the Murphy Cup playoffs in all five seasons of the Blades’ existence.
Trivia
L.A. previously had two minor league ice hockey team known as the Blades. The original Blades of the Western Hockey League skated from 1961 until 1967. An ill-conceived revival of the Blades in the Pacific Hockey League lasted just two months during the winter of 1978-79.
