New Mexico Chiles
The New Mexico Chiles were an Albuquerque-based pro soccer outfit during the early 1990’s. The original Chiles were an expansion franchise in the American Professional Soccer League during the summer of 1990. At the time the APSL was the highest level of professional soccer in the United States. In subsequent seasons, the Chiles self-relegated to lower-budget, lower-division leagues. In their best year, 1991, the Chiles advanced to the U.S. Open Cup semi-final. The club closed following the 1996 season.
