The Philadelphia Fox were an exceptionally short-lived entry in the Women’s Professional Basketball League in the fall of 1979. In truth, the Fox never should have been allowed to take the court at all. The apparently owner-less expansion team last a mere 10 games before the league pulled the plug shortly before Christmas. The Fox made their handful of home appearances before tiny crowds at the old Philadelphia Civic Center.
