Background
The Augusta Pirates were a Class A farm of the Pittsburgh Pirates for six seasons during the late 1980’s/early 90’s. The franchise relocated from Macon, Georgia in 1988 after years of effort by Bill Heaton to bring pro baseball back to Augusta after a quarter century absence. Augusta’s modest new minor league ballpark took its name from Heaton’s endeavors.
Notable Augusta players included Moises Alou (’88), Tim Wakefield (’89) and Esteban Loaiza (’92).
The club was re-branded as the Augusta Greenjackets in 1994. The move was part of a broader 1990’s trend of minor league clubs carving out their own brand identities separate from their Major League parent clubs. The Greenjackets enter their 25th season of play in April 2018.

I was a batboy when Lynn Monheymer owned the team and BARRY BONDS played for 2 weeks with us in I think 1988
Can ANYONE PLEASE Help me get these dates/times sorted out as I want to tell my baseball crazed son how it went down – I had like 5-6 autographs from Bonds and they have disappeared 🙁
