Background
The Boston Bays tennis franchise was a short-lived franchise in Domino’s Pizza TeamTennis (better known by its non-sponsor name of World Team Tennis) during the summers of 1985 and 1986. IMG, the athlete representation agency, owned the Bays franchise.
The Bays 1985 roster included Drew Gitlin, Ann Henricksson, Mike Leach and Andrea Leand.
The 1986 edition of the Boston Bays featured an entirely new roster composed of player-coach Owen Davidson, Butch Walts, Andrea Jaeger and Paula Smith. The 1986 squad lost their first 13 matches before salvaging a victory on the season’s final day, in what would turn out to be the franchise’s last appearance.
The Boston Bays quietly disappeared after their second season of play in 1986.
