Grays Harbor Gulls

The Grays Harbor Gulls of Washington state were founding members of the independent Western Baseball League (WBL) in 1995. The Gulls played against WBL clubs up and down the Pacific Coast from British Columbia in the north down to Long Beach, California in the south. The team’s ownership collapsed due to financial problems in June 1998 midway through the Gulls’ fourth season. The league took over the team, re-named it the “Western Warriors” and put the players on a months-long road trip so as not to disrupt the remaining schedules of the other WBL clubs.

Grays Harbor Mets

The Grays Harbor Mets were a short-season Class A farm team of the New York Mets that lasted for one season in Hoquiam, Washington during the summer of 1979. Formerly a non-affiliated club known as the Grays Harbor Loggers, the team took on the “Mets” identity after signing a Player Development Contract with New York for the 1979 season. But the marriage was an unhappy one. When New York pulled out at the end of 1979, Grays Harbor returned to independent status and went back to the Loggers name for their final season in 1980.
