The Cleveland Buckeyes started as the Cincinnati-Cleveland Buckeyes in 1942, before settling permanently in Northern Ohio in 1943. The club won two league titles as well as a Negro World Series championship.

The Birmingham Black Barons baseball team played in several Negro leagues from 1920 to 1962. Willie Mays, Satchel Paige, Mule Suttles, and Willie Wells were among the best-known players to have played for the team over the years.

The Kanas City Monarchs are perhaps the best known Negro Leagues baseball team of all time. They played from the inception of the first Negro league in 1920 until finishing up as a barnstorming team in 1965.
