The Pittsfield Cubs were the Class AA farm club of the Chicago Cubs for four seasons between 1985 and 1988.  The arrival of the Cubs marked the return of pro baseball to historic Wahconah Park for the first time since the Berkshire Brewers departed after the 1976 season. Future stars Mark Grace, Jamie Moyer and Rafael Palmeiro all played in Pittsfield during the Cubs era.

Charleston Rainbows

The Charleston Rainbows were a Class A farm club in the South Atlantic League (1980-Present) from 1985 to 1993. The team took its name from Charleston’s “Rainbow Row” of historic homes on East Bay Street. The Rainbows served as farm club of the San Diego Padres from 1985 to 1992 and for the Texas Rangers in 1993. In 1994 the franchise changed its identity again, becoming the Charleston RiverDogs.
