Grays Harbor Gulls

The Grays Harbor Gulls of Washington state were founding members of the independent Western Baseball League (WBL) in 1995. The Gulls played against WBL clubs up and down the Pacific Coast from British Columbia in the north down to Long Beach, California in the south. The team’s ownership collapsed due to financial problems in June 1998 midway through the Gulls’ fourth season. The league took over the team, re-named it the “Western Warriors” and put the players on a months-long road trip so as not to disrupt the remaining schedules of the other WBL clubs.

2001 Duluth-Superior Dukes baseball program from the Northern League

Duluth-Superior Dukes (1993-2002)

This long-running indy ball club lasted for ten seasons but never had a winning record.  Nevertheless, the Duluth-Superior Dukes won one Northern League crown in 1997 and played for another in 2000. The Dukes were a brand revival of the original D-S Dukes, who played from 1960 to 1970. Like the original Dukes, the modern day Dukes played at historic Wade Stadium, a Depression era Works Progress Administration ballpark erected in 1940-1941.
