Philadelphia Rockets

The Philadelphia Rockets of 1946-1949 were a short-tenured and absolutely dreadful minor league hockey entry that played at the old Philadelphia Arena on Market Street. An earlier and separate Philadelphia Rockets franchise played at the Arena during the 1941-42 season. Both editions of the Rockets were members of the American Hockey League. The expansion Rockets of 1946-47 were perhaps the worst club in the AHL’s 80+ year history. They allowed 10 or more goals four times en route to a 5-52-7 record and a .133 winning percentage. The Rockets never had a winning campaign before mercifully going dark in 1949.

Philadelphia Ramblers

The Philadelphia Ramblers were a minor league hockey outfit that played nine seasons in the Eastern Hockey League from 1955 until 1964.  The “Ramblers” name was a revival of a previous Philly minor league club that competed in the American Hockey League from 1935 to 1941.  Both incarnations of the Ramblers played at the old Philadelphia Arena at 4530 Market Street.
