The Daytona Cubs were a long-time Florida State League farm team of the Chicago Cubs, playing 22 seasons between 1993 and 2014. The club was notable for its dominant postseason performances, capturing 10 straight playoff series and six Florida State League titles over a 20-year period between 1993 and 2013. The franchise re-branded itself as the Daytona Tortugas in 2014 after the Chicago Cubs ended their partnership with the ball club.

The Daytona Beach Admirals were a short-lived entry in the Class A Florida State League, operated by long-time Chicago Cubs and National League executive Blake Cullen. The team would last only one season as a Chicago White Sox farm club during the summer of 1987. But Cullen continued on as a minor league sports investor and one year later he recycled the ‘Admirals’ name for his wildly successful minor league hockey team in Norfolk, Virginia.

The Daytona Beach Astros were a Class A farm club of the Houston Astros from 1978 until 1984. The team was one of the most popular draws in the Florida State League in the early 1980’s under the management of General Manager Don Miers and out-of-town owner Harry Valentine of New York. Daytona Beach had a long history in the Florida State League dating back to 1920. The Astros became the city’s first team to draw 100,000 fans in a season, peaking at 102,510 for their final campaign in the summer of 1984.

At the time, Daytona Beach had hosted more Florida State League seasons (33), games (4,461) and victories (2,328) than any other city in Florida.
